LET’S GROW THE FOOD MARKET
Going around South Africa, we noted that there’s a lot of food produced in the country by emerging food makers and farmers, that goes to waste. The food makers make food, but there’s often no market to sell to, so the food ends up going to waste and creates more pollution.
Emerging food makers complain about many barriers to enter the food market as a new comer. Major supermarkets are reluctant to put on their shelves new and unique food items.
At Harvesty, we came with the idea to remove the barriers to entry in the food eco systems, by providing an online platform where we sell food from emerging food makers and farmers. All the food we sell is safe to eat and has been approved and certified to be consumed.
The benefit to customers is that, since these are emerging brands and not well established yet, customers are able to buy them at a lower price.
At Harvesty, our joy comes from ensuring that we offer a service of great benefit to both the customers and emerging food makers and farmers. The food makers have a market to sell their food to. The customers buy food that is cheaper and save money.
At Harvesty, we are also happy that we prevent some of this food from going to waste and we are also assisting in growing the food market and eco system.
